Rocky and Hard Ground Anchoring

When the terrain turns tough, you need a ground anchor that holds firm. GroundGrabba screw-in anchors bite into rocky or hard-packed surfaces where standard pegs fail. Perfect for rugged landscapes, dry clay, or compacted tracks, they drill deep and hold steady—giving you confidence your gear stays put.

Junior 13 Piece Kit

Designed for general camping in rocky and hard ground as well as everyday soil types, this kit includes 4x GroundGrabba Juniors, 4x Pigtail Hooks, 4x The Fabngs, and 1x socket driver. A lightweight, grab-and-go anchoring solution for swags, tents, or small shelters.

Pro kits

The Pro Kit is a reliable go-to for rocky and hard ground anchoring. Designed for medium-duty applications in compacted or challenging terrain, it includes four 315mm GroundGrabba Pro anchors and hooks to secure tents, tarps, or shade structures with ease.

Pro I Kit

For increased grip and heavier loads in rocky and hard ground types, the Pro I Kit features four longer GroundGrabba Pro I anchors (465mm) with matching hooks. Ideal for anchoring awnings, shelters, or gear where deeper hold is needed.

Masonry Drills For Pilot Holes

Our masonry drill bits are perfect for creating pilot holes in hard ground, compact clay, or gravelly surfaces. If your cordless drill has enough torque but the ground proves stubborn, pre-drilling a hole helps ensure an easier GroundGrabba installation with less resistance. A must-have for campers tackling challenging terrain.

From the founder:

Hi, I’m David Levine, inventor of GroundGrabba. In 2017, Susu and I set out to create purpose-built ground anchors. Today, our range secures everything from tents to tiny homes. We back our steel anchors with a Lifetime Replacement Warranty* and a 100% RISK-FREE 12-month return policy. Whatever you need to anchor, we’ll keep you grounded.

Reliable Anchoring in Tough Ground Conditions

When it comes to rocky and hard-packed ground, you need gear that won’t back down. GroundGrabba’s range of screw-in ground anchors is engineered for strength, reliability, and ease of use — even when conditions are less than ideal. Whether you're dealing with dry clay, gravel, or compacted bush terrain, our anchoring systems give you the grip and peace of mind you need.

That said, no GroundGrabba will screw directly into solid rock, concrete, or bitumen. They are designed to penetrate rocky ground — meaning earth with embedded stones — but just like traditional hammer-in pegs, if you hit a large underground obstruction, you’ll need to reposition and try a new angle or spot. When the ground is extremely compacted or gravelly, you can also pre-drill a pilot hole to help insert your GroundGrabba anchor. This is especially useful in hard clay or where precise placement is required.

For lighter-duty applications like swags, compact tents, or light canopies, the Junior 13 Piece Kit offers a versatile solution. With four GroundGrabba Juniors, four Pigtail Hooks for guy ropes, four Fabngs, and a socket driver, it’s a convenient all-in-one pack for solo or couple campers needing reliable hold across general ground types — even rocky patches.

Stepping up to the Pro Kit, you’ll get four of our 315mm GroundGrabba Pros and four Closed Hooks — a solid choice for medium-duty use in firm or stony soil, perfect for small tarps, shade shelters, or utility setups. This kit is ideal for campers who want quick, robust anchoring using a cordless drill.

Need more bite? The Pro I Kit features four 465mm GroundGrabba Pro I anchors paired with Closed Hooks, offering extra depth and grip. These are great for heavier setups, including tents, awnings, and structures where wind or load calls for deeper anchoring.

All GroundGrabba Pro series anchors are made from strong carbon steel with a protective galvanised finish — built to resist bending, wear, and corrosion. And when the ground is too tough to go straight in, a 12mm masonry drill bit can make all the difference.

It may seem obvious to you and I, that any ground anchor for Rocky and Hard Ground Anchors must be very robust. Our GroundGrabba Pro and GroundGrabba Pro II are just that! They are made of carbon steel that’s been heat treated and galvanised. They’re so strong we give you a 100% replacement warranty should you break them or wear them out. You’ll just love the massive grip afforded in most ground types. Of course a screw in ground anchor cannot do the impossible and penetrate rock or work around large obstructions. Sometimes you’ll need to create a hack to solve your problem. In super hard ground you could pre-drill a hole.

GroundGrabba Pro II

The GroundGrabba Pro (300mm) and it’s bigger brother the GroundGrabba Pro ll, (600mm) in length are ready for the ground anchoring task you want to give them. Our GroundGrabba’s are not only rocky and hard ground anchors but that can handle the soft stuff as well.

We designed GroundGrabba screw in heavy duty ground anchors for exactly that task. We did not opt for a cheap and underperforming method of a longer version of a wood screw. The Flights (wings or spirals) protrude up the shaft for a specific portion and at a specific angle to maximise the pulling power of the screw/augur design and to grip hard once in.

With cement like grip the GroundGrabba Pro will bite hard into most ground types from semi soft loam to hard packed gravel.  Suitable for all but the softest ground for your tent, shade structure or tethering your dog. For soft grounds then you’ll love our GroundGrabba Pro II’s. For concrete like hard ground we recommend pre-drilling a pilot hole  minimum of 12mm wide x 300mm deep AND you have a powerful cordless drill.

GroundGrabba Pro II Ground Anchors for rocky ground, hard packed dry clay or to the softest sands… GroundGrabba has your back. Our GroundGrabba Pro II with their massive grip holds like no other.

Naturally GroundGrabba’s will not go through rock or concrete. If there are too many large rocks GroundGrabbas will not work. You’ll need to find an alternative.

GroundGrabba Pro II,  and GroundGrabba Pro for the ultimate in massive grip. Fast, safe and secure, designed to handle the punishment thats why there are also Rocky and Hard Ground Anchors.  Let your drill do the hard work driving them in and the part I like best… removing them.

Rocky and Hard Grounds or hard clay, a GroundGrabba screw in ground anchor is more easily drill driven in with a cordless impact wrench.

Sometimes in hard or rocky ground the only chance of using a ground anchor in rocky and hard ground is by pre drilling a hole.

Old Hammer in Stakes

2000 years after the Romans invented the steel hammer in peg they just been surpassed now we have the cordless battery drill.  No more hammering in pegs in stakes.  Now you can screw-it.  The old hammer-in pegs don’t hold your tent, gazebos or pop ups well at all. Especially in rocky ground, thats why you should have a set of GroundGrabba’s with you on your travels. GroundGrabbas are versatile and great as rocky and hard ground anchors.

Experience the difference of what real rocky and hard ground anchors can do, like many before you, you won’t look back!
It’s a good feeling knowing that your heavy duty drill driven screw in ground anchors are keeping your equipment well anchored and safe. They’re also fun to use.
