How They Work

How They Work

This is currently our top-of-the-range Commercial product. Our Industrial commercial earth ground anchor range (GR14) works by penetrating the ground and forming an inverted conical shape of earth-holding grip within the substrate.

When subjected to extreme uplift forces, unlike fully-threaded anchors that can fail catastrophically, our auger-designed earth anchors tend to lift in a controlled failure mode. This generally provides advance warning before total failure, as the auger section still needs to carve its way through the compacted earth above.

Compared to our general GR13 range, the GR14 shafts are thicker, the hex heads are larger, and available lengths include 450mm, 600mm, and 900mm.

Grabbing Power

Hold Down Capacity

In our tests, we have found that if we compare same length spike stake to a GR14 of the same length and girth, then the difference ranges from around X3 to X7 in holding power!

IMPORTANT***Please note that these figures are a guide only.  The results are vertical lift absolute momentary peak readings and you should allow a decent safety margin.   Ground types vary. Through the depth of one ground anchor the ground can be of different densities therefore different anchoring characteristics.    These all rely on correct deployment.

For driving these into the ground, we recommend a high-torque impact wrench. Consider models like:

  • Makita 40v TW001GZ-40v Brushless 3/4" Impact Wrench.
  • Milwaukee M18 FUEL 2867-20
  • Use a masonry drill at least the same length as the GR14 you choose for pilot holes in harder ground.

Important Note:

GroundGrabba Commercial range is designed for heavy-duty use with a tradie quality heavy-duty impact wrench.

Please note that these are not toys. Ensure you have a powerful drill, especially for hard ground conditions.

Uses & Benefits

Maximum Hold When You Need Maximum Certainty

The 900mm GroundGrabba Commercial Pro II is built for big jobs—like securing containers, tiny homes, and structures exposed to extreme conditions. It drills deep into sand, clay, or unstable soil with confidence. Powered by your impact wrench and a 1” AF socket, this is the anchor of choice when failure is not an option.

Maximum-Strength Ground Anchoring System

When Everything Depends on Staying Put

The GroundGrabba Commercial Pro II delivers unparalleled holding power with its extended 900mm (3ft) shaft design. Field-proven during extreme weather events—including cyclones—these heavy-duty anchors provide critical security for portable buildings, site sheds, and valuable assets where failure simply isn’t an option.

Engineering That Outperforms

Our legendary auger technology creates a deep, inverted conical earth grip that dramatically outperforms standard anchoring methods. Unlike conventional threaded anchors that can fail without warning, the GroundGrabba Commercial Pro II features controlled-failure technology—providing early warning signs before maximum stress is reached, giving you time to act.

Ideal Applications:

  • Portable buildings & site offices ("dongas")
  • Relocatable homes & modular structures
  • Mobile homes
  • Shipping containers & storage solutions

Cyclone proofed tiny house

A few months ago I moved into a new tiny house on wheels (8.4m), with a deck on a trailer also (9m), and a solar system also on a trailer (6.3m). I live in SE QLD, and a cyclone was the furthest thing from my mind at the time. Then Alfred hit. My biggest learning from that experience is that I needed some serious ground anchors and tie downs in place. After extensive research, I came to the conclusion GroundGrabba products was exactly what I was after - serious anchorage, something I could install myself, and removable and reusable (ie relocatable). Nothing else seemed to come close.

David could not have been more helpful, with multiple phone calls and emails while I shared photos and details of what I needed. He guided me as to the most appropriate products, and provided so many helpful tips and support. As someone new to this, that was as valuable as the ground anchors themselves. Now they're all in place, under tension with tie downs, I am absolutely sure I have the best products for the job.

With the tool recommended on the product page, the anchors went in easily. They are so solid and well designed. It's also not difficult to remove them, so I'm very comfortable that when the time comes, I'll be able to relocate them without any hassles. Can't recommend these ground anchors highly enough for any large items that need to be secured.

Hi Kerry,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with our GroundGrabba products. We are thrilled to hear that they have been able to provide the necessary anchorage for your tiny house, deck, and solar system. It's great to know that our products were easy to install and can be removed and reused, making them perfect for relocating.

Best,
David and the GroundGrabba Team

Dongas Survived Cyclone Alfred

I recently purchased GroundGrabba Commercial 900mm Pro II’s to hold down a number of our site sheds.

I had numerous site sheds to secure ranging from 3x5m to 6 x 12m. We just experienced cyclone Alfred and am super pleased to say our sheds didn’t budge. I also like the fact these are reusable.

Next time we need to set up and anchor down site sheds we’ll use GroundGrabba again.

Highly recommend!
