Snow Ground Anchoring

Snow-covered terrain poses a different kind of anchoring challenge. Soft powder offers little grip, while compacted or icy layers can make driving in pegs difficult or impossible. Whether you're setting up basecamp, stabilising gear in alpine conditions, or winter camping off-grid, choosing the right ground anchor is critical. GroundGrabba products offer a simple, drill-powered solution that helps secure your setup in a range of snowy environments—just be sure to match the anchor to the snow type and weight of your gear.

Pro I Kits

With its longer shaft and wide-thread profile, the Pro I is a solid choice when anchoring in deeper powder or softer compacted snow. Designed for drill-powered installation, it helps create a stable base for tents, ice fishing shelters, and snow gear—especially when you need a little extra hold.

Pro II Kits

Need deeper bite into firm or layered snowpack? The Pro II adds length and thread width for improved grip in tougher conditions. Ideal for semi-compacted snow or when you’re anchoring heavier gear where shifting or drifting snow is a concern.

Lite Packs

Lightweight and easy to pack, the Lite is best suited for shallow or crusted snow where minimal anchoring is required—like securing gear bags, signage, or shade tarps on a calm day. Not recommended for soft, deep powder or load-bearing tasks.

Socket Driver

For all snow anchoring applications, the GroundGrabba Socket Driver saves time and effort. Just attach it to your drill or impact wrench and power your anchors in—no cold hands from hammering in pegs or struggling with ropes.

Keeping Your Snow Shelters and Equipment Grounded

Snowy conditions can make anchoring a serious challenge. In soft powder, traditional pegs often pull out with the slightest pressure. On compacted snow or icy crusts, hammering stakes can be slow, ineffective, or even dangerous. That’s where GroundGrabba comes in.

Using a cordless drill or impact wrench, GroundGrabba anchors twist deep into snowpack, giving you a faster, more secure way to hold down tents, tarps, shelters, or gear. Our Pro I and Pro II models offer longer shafts and aggressive thread profiles for better grip in deeper or denser snow, while the Lite is a lightweight option suited to firmer or shallower snow conditions.

While we always recommend field-testing to suit your specific terrain, many of our customers have successfully used GroundGrabbas for winter camping, ice fishing, snow sports events, and alpine adventures. Just remember—match your anchor to the snow type and load requirements, and you’ll stay grounded even when conditions get icy.

Made of heat treated galvanised steel our GroundGrabba Pro II or our Super tough glass reinforced GroundGrabba Lite’s are the perfect Snow Ground Anchors. You’ll just love the simplicity and massive grip afforded.

GroundGrabba Pro ll, 600mm in length is ‘big brother’ to the GroundGrabba Lite however both have incredible individual strengths beyond their appearances. Heavy duty drill driven screw in stakes like these are superior in every way. With flights (wings or spirals) designed from the ground up to cut in and grip the snow so you can enjoy your winter camping experience.

We all know that outdated stakes are just a pain to use, they just don’t do a good job of holding your ice tent, or shade structures or ez ups well at all.

Now you can experience real snow ground anchors that are versatile and not only for the snow. You will have peace of mind knowing your heavy duty drill driven screw in snow ground anchors screw down easily and hold fast time and time again.
